A paparazzo caught up with Wanderlei Silva in Los Angeles on Thursday. Hear what the Pride and UFC legend had to say about Conor McGregor and his very public falling out with the UFC.
Outside of LAX, Wanderlei Silva was approached by TMZ Sports, who asked him his thoughts on Conor McGregor and the UFC’s very public disagreement over promotional obligations.
The MMA legend seemed to side with his former employers, telling TMZ that, “The promotion is part of the deal, and you need to be professional.”
‘The Axe Murderer’ opined that a fighter needs to dedicate time to both training and promotion and that in McGregor’s case, he should be spending ample time improving his ground game – which he referred to as ‘blue belt’ level at best.
“He needs to do focus on his ground,” continued Silva. “But he fights good, he’s a good fighter, he promotes well, but he need to do… job is job.”
Silva’s most recent job came at upstart Japanese promotion Rizin’s April 17th event, Rizin FF 1, where he and Kiyoshi Tamura drew with Kazushi Sakuraba and Hideo Tokoro in a tag team grappling match.
