Before Conor McGregor made history by becoming the first and only man to ever hold tow separate division titles at the same time for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), “Notorious” accomplished the same feat under the Cage Warriors banner.
McGregor won the Lightweight title to go along with the featherweight strap in Dublin, Ireland back in 2012, defeating Ivan Buchinger via first-round knockout in what proved to be his final fight for Cage Warriors.
After doing the same at UFC 205 last November by knocking out Eddie Alvarez, McGregor once again left the division on hold in favor of searching for and finally getting a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather.
The two men are set to duke it out inside the ring on Aug. 26, 2017 in Las Vegas, NEvada in a fight that has been criticized often, though welcomed by many. Should Conor do the unthinkable and hand “Money” his first-ever loss, the fiery Irishman will undoubtedly go down in the history books as one of the greatest combat sports stars to ever compete.
Though many feel “Notorious” simply doesn’t have a chance.
