Francis Ngannou finally makes his highly anticipated return to mixed martial arts (MMA) after a two-fight stint in boxing this weekend (Sat., Oct. 19, 2024) against Brazilian giant Renan Ferreira, headlining PFL Super Fights: “Battle of the Giants,” which will take place at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Ngannou will compete in MMA for the first time since he departed Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2023 following his first UFC Heavyweight title defense against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270, where he won via unanimous decision. It will be 32 months since “The Predator” has put on 4 oz gloves.
Ferreira ran through PFL in 2023 knocking out all of his opponents within two rounds to score the Heavyweight title and a $1 million payday. Earlier this year, he slept Ryan Bader in 20 seconds to punch his ticket to fight Ngannou for the Super Fight belt.
In the co-main, Cris Cyborg makes her long-awaited PFL debut against fellow knockout artist Larissa Pachecho, who won back-to-back PFL championships in two different weight classes (Lightweight and Featherweight.
The “Featured” bout is a rematch between Middleweight Champion Johnny Eblen and Fabian Edwards. It was supposed to take place last month at Bellator London, but it was postponed.
