Straight from the horse’s mouth:

By now, I’m sure most of the mixed martial arts (MMA) world is aware that former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida has been pulled from his Dan Henderson fight, scheduled for UFC on FOX 19 this Saturday (April 16, 2016) in Tampa, Florida.

Our full report here.

Not long after Machida found himself in hot water with United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), “The Dragon” took to Facebook to explain what went wrong and how he didn’t realize the supplement he was taking, 7-Keto (which contains DHEA), was on the prohibited list.

From Instagram:

“I’m here to tell you that I was caught by surprise by this news. It has been very difficult for me. I’ve trained a lot for this fight, I’ve dedicated a lot with all my team mates. I want to tell you that I really didn’t know about this substance, so I listed it on my declaration form amongst everything else I was taking, and this substance was recently banned in 2016, so I take the blame for not knowing that, and I’d like to say I’m really sorry and apologize to my fans, team mates, and my family… I always try to play by the book, but unfortunately this happened.”

Henderson is not impressed.

Machida has been sidelined until further notice while “Hendo” is expected to be added to a future fight card. In their absence, the strawweight showdown between Tecia Torres and Rose Namajunas slides into the UFC on FOX 19 co-main event.
