Another day, another last-minute hiccup Dana White and his matchmakers have to deal with. According to MMA Fighting, Kyle Nelson ran into some visa issues while attempting to cross the border into the Unites States from Canada, forcing him to withdraw from his scheduled fight against Sean Woodson.
As a result, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be shuffling its fight card for the UFC on ESPN 12 mixed martial arts (MMA) event this Sat. night (June 27, 2020) inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as Julian Erosa will step in to fill the void.
Erosa — who earned his initial spot on the UFC roster via the ‘Contender Series’ — was cut from the promotion a year ago following three straight defeats. Since then, Erosa has only competed once, defeating A.J. Bryant at CageSport 60 earlier this year.
Woodson, meanwhile, is undefeated thus far in his young mixed martial arts (MMA) career (7-0, 1-0 UFC), winning his Octagon debut last October against Kyle Bochniak. Like Erosa, Woodson got his first taste of UFC action on the ‘Contender Series.’
UFC on ESPN 12 will be headlined by a Lightweight tilt between former interim champion, Dustin Poirier, taking on surging contender, Dan Hooker. The co-main event will see Mike Perry take on Mickey Gall in Welterweight action.
