Vitaly Bigdash to defend ONE middleweight title against Marcin Prachnio on Jan. 14
ONE: “Quest for Power” is set for the Jakarta Convention Centre on January 14th and will be headlined by a middleweight title match between champion Vitaly Bigdash and challenger Marcin Prachnio.
Bigdash (8-0) returns from injury to make the first defense of his middleweight belt. Prachnio (12-2) won three fights out of three in 2016 to establish himself as the No. 1 contender in a division that also contains popular Burmese fighter Aung La N Sang.
“2017 is shaping up to be a phenomenal year for ONE Championship. We have an exciting lineup of world-class events all across iconic cities in Asia, and we are thrilled to kick things off in Jakarta. Get ready for the biggest year in MMA history,” said Victor Cui, CEO of ONE Championship.
“ONE Middleweight World Champion Vitaly Bigdash, one of the most exciting fighters in the promotion, is set to make his highly-anticipated return to the ONE Championship cage against worthy challenger Marcin Prachnio,” he continued. “The last time Vitaly was in the cage, he took the title from former champion Igor Svirid by force, rallying from a series knockdowns to score an epic come-from-behind victory. Will he be able to handle Prachnio’s blunt power? This is a fight the fans will not want to miss!”
In the co-main event, two former featherweight title challengers collide when Martin Nguyen (7-1) faces Kazunori Yokota (25-6-3). Both have been beaten by Marat Gafurov but it was the Australian’s only loss while the Japanese veteran has won 13 out of his last 14.
So far seven fights have been announced for the card which also features undefeated Indonesians Stefer Rahardian and Adrian Matheis.
