That was fast.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender, Corey Anderson, has finally accepted the fact that he won’t be fighting Jon Jones for the 205-pound title, which is the price one pays for turning down 50 fights.
Even the dumb ones.
With that in mind, “Overtime” has abandoned the smoke and embraced the sauce, recently calling for a UFC 244 showdown against No. 12 ranked up-and-comer, Johnny Walker, who doesn’t appear to have any plans in November.
“Let’s dance together, and have a little fun,” Walker wrote on social media. “Light heavyweight needs a new king.”
Anderson (12-4) is riding a three-fight win streak dating back to late 2017. He currently sits at No. 8 on the list of contending light heavyweights and has not competed since a unanimous decision victory over Ilir Latifi back in December.
As for Walker (17-3), he’s won all three of his UFC fights by way of first-round knockout after graduating from Dana White’s “Contender Series” roughly one year back. The Brazilian is two years younger than Anderson at 27.
If and when these two do hook ‘em up … who ya’ got?
