Johnny Walker will run it back with fellow light heavyweight contender Magomed Ankalaev atop the UFC Vegas 84 fight card on ESPN+, locked and loaded for Sat., Jan. 13, 2024 at the promotion’s APEX facility in Las Vegas.
I’m sure his coaches had Walker memorize the address (just in case).
Walker, 31, is ranked four spots below Ankalaev at No. 7 but could find himself positioned for a crack at the 205-pound crown, currently worn by fellow Brazilian Alex Pereira, with an impressive showing next week in “Sin City.”
“100 percent,” Pereira told The Schmo. “I have some business to deal with [Ankalaev] because the last fight was not the way that I expected it to be. I feel him already, I feel everything, I know his power and I have some very big surprise for him. I’m excited for this fight. I can’t wait to put my hands on him and make him pay. It’s gonna be like a little revenge.”
Walker and Ankalaev are rematching after their bizarre No Contest in Abu Dhabi.
The promotion is currently looking to book Pereira for the “insane” UFC 300 pay-per-view (PPV) card this April in Las Vegas and with the Jan Blahowicz vs. Aleksandar Rakic fight falling apart, the door is wide open for a new contender.
“Maybe me,” Walker (21-7, 1 NC) said about fighting Pereira at UFC 300. “I just have to beat Ankalaev first. Whatever it takes, I’ll be ready.”
