“Contender Series” superstar, Sean O’Malley, returned to official Octagon duty tonight (Sat., June 6, 2020) at UFC 250, which took place inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, looking to use mixed martial arts (MMA) journeyman, Eddie Wineland, as a stepping stone to bigger and better fights moving forward.

And boy did he ever, literally sleeping Wineland in the first round with a clean shot to the jaw less than two minutes into the first round.

O’Malley, 25, crawled out of his corner and fired off a sidekick that Wineland, 35, side-stepped. O’Malley missed with a high kick and Wineland grazed his nose with a hook, just missing a solid connection. Wineland scored a straight overhand right moments later, while O’Malley circled away and landed with a spinning back kick. Then, out of nowhere, O’Malley connected with a ridiculously hard right hand on the chin that made Wineland’s eyes roll into the back of his head as he fell to the canvas stiff as a board. He was clearly out cold, so rather than add insult to injury, O’Malley calmly and coolly walked away.

Wineland — who fought in his 21st UFC/WEC Bantamweight bout, the most in history — was apparently snoring on the canvas.

What a remarkable finish from O’Malley, who remains perfect inside the Octagon (3-0). If he can remain healthy, it’s safe to say UFC has a budding star on its hands.
