Get your full fight coverage right here for Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev live on PPV Saturday, November 19.
November 19th is shaping up to be a stupidly busy day of combat sports. Among the highlights, there will be two UFC shows (Mousasi vs. Hall 2 in Belfast, followed by Bader vs. Nogueira 2 in Sao Paulo), Bellator MMA: Chandler vs. Henderson, and in the boxing ring, Sergey Kovalev (30-0-1, 26 KOs) will fight Andre Ward (30-0, 15 KOs) in perhaps the most competitive and compelling high-profile boxing matchup of 2016. At stake is Kovalev’s WBA, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight (175 lbs) belts, and Ward is seeking to re-establish himself as a world champion, this time moving up from 168 lbs, where he was once an unbeatable force.
As is the usual standard for HBO Boxing for a major event, they’ve put together a highlight clip showcasing the best work of both fighters. Today, we’ll take a look at Kovalev, known as “Krusher,” and for good reason. He is a menacing puncher with heavy hands, and only a handful of foes have lasted the distance with the 33-year-old (Bernard Hopkins being one of them). You can watch the full video at the top of the page.
Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward is scheduled to air on HBO PPV from the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bloody Elbow will have full fight week coverage, but if you want more comprehensive daily boxing coverage, check out Bad Left Hook.
