Tony Ferguson will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon after tearing up his knee at the upcoming UFC 229 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Oct. 6, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada when he squares off against Anthony Pettis.
Before that, let’s take a look back at where the official UFC journey began for “El Cucuy.”
Back in 2011, Tony found himself face-to-face with Ramsey Nijem in the finals of season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). And it didn’t take long for the promotion to find a diamond in the rough, as Ferguson blasted Ramsey with precise striking to score a knockout in the very first round.
That winning performance was good enough to earn UFC’s “Knockout of the Week.”
Winning 12 of his next 13 UFC fights, Ferguson has since gone on to win (and then get stripped of) the UFC Lightweight title. But if he can score an impressive victory over “Showtime,” don’t be surprised if he gets to face the winner of the evening’s headlining act between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov
