Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who claims to have vacated his title after getting stiffed by promotion president Dana White, took to the streets this weekend during the George Floyd protests.
And that’s bad news for punk-ass teenagers.
Jones posted a video to Instagram on Monday morning, calling for the old guard to step up and help take back the community. Most of the major cities have been protesting over the last couple of days, with some neighborhoods getting looted amid riots.
“Is this shit even about George Floyd anymore?!?” Jones wrote. “Why the fuck are you punk ass teenagers destroying our cities!?? As a young black man trust me I’m frustrated as well but this is not the way, we are starting to make a bad situation worse. If you really got love for your city (505), protect your shit. All you old heads need to speak up, call your young family members and tell them to come home tonight.”
Floyd died in police custody back on May 25 in Minneapolis after being pinned down by police officer Derek Chauvin, who was not only relieved of duty, but later arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
Chauvin was transferred to Oak Park Heights prison on Sunday.
Officers Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, and Thomas K. Lane, who were on the scene and participated in Floyd’s arrest, were also fired and could be facing criminal charges pending investigation by Federal Bureau of Investigation and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
