The latest episode of Dana White’s UFC scouting show is out and ready to watch, as he and Matt Serra and Nick “The Tooth” pick up a new heavyweight prospect.
The latest episode of “Lookin’ for a Fight” is out. Dana White’s personal scouting show is on their way to Minneapolis, Minnesota. While there they get into all their normal sightseeing, hijinks, and gastronomical tourism… and they find a new heavyweight fighter for the UFC.
This month’s prospect is 27-year-old New Mexico native Cody East. Bloody Elbow highlighted East’s troubled past, shortly after his signing became public, including multiple assault charges, and a 3-year prison stint for child abuse. Still, that hasn’t dimmed the UFC’s interest in the fighter, as the promotion released a statement shortly after the BE report, stating that, “East was very upfront with the UFC regarding his past…” and that “with the understanding that Mr. East had successfully completed many months of rehabilitation and counseling, UFC felt comfortable offering Mr. East the opportunity to compete in the UFC.”
East is now set to make his UFC debut at UFC 197 against Walt Harris, most likely on the Fight Pass portion of the event. UFC 197 is scheduled for Saturday, April 23rd in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card will be headlined by an interim light heavyweight title bout between Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux.
