Yes, we know. MMA Mania is a mixed martial arts website (go check out our UFC 305 coverage here), but 2022 ADCC champion Kade Ruotolo and Andrew Tackett had one of the most entertaining grappling matches yesterday (Sat., Aug. 17, 2024) that you will ever see. Even if you despise competitive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, you will love this match.
Ruotolo vs. Tackett had everything: suspense, non-stop action, submission attempts, close finishes, escapes, wild scrambles, and stakes.
Ruotolo was the No. 1 seed in the Craig Jones Invitational (CJI), and he had to get through Tackett to reach the finals to win $1 million. Both grapplers are 21 years old and at the top of their game.
Unfortunately, CJI has not clipped out the match on YouTube yet, BUT the match is available for free. The match starts at 1:54:30 on the B-Team Jiu-Jitsu YouTube channel.
Check it out below:
Our own Cory Braiterman broke down the match while living blogging, so check that out here.
Ruotolo won a split decision over Tackett but had to fight for it with all he had. It was an absolutely epic grappling match that will go down in history.
So, yeah. Enjoy the match.
CJI was a smashing success and a joy to watch, and MMAMania.com has you covered on everything that went down, including Craig Jones tapping Gabi Garcia, Mackenzie Dern getting submitted, and Nicky Rod dominating his bracket to win $1 million.
