The promotional machine for the big UFC 246 return of Conor McGregor has officially started revving up with these two slick videos.

2019 was a pretty big year for the UFC, but it’s looking like small potatoes compared to what the promotion has planned for the first quarter of 2020 alone. Things are kicking off with a bang at UFC 246 on January 18th with the return of Conor McGregor against fan favorite Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

It’s a fight that’s largely sold itself since being revealed at the end of November, but of course the UFC is going to help things along with a few killer promos that position the bout as possibly the most epic match-up ever made, featuring some of the most manly men to ever to walk on God’s green earth.

Two such promos dropped on Saturday night during UFC 245, and they were indeed good enough to make me forget about my reservations surrounding Conor’s return and jump on the McGregor vs. Cerrone hype train. Here’s the first one, entitled ‘The Showdown.’

A slowed down cover of The Rolling Stones’ Paint It Black drones in the background as Joe Rogan declares “When Conor McGregor fights, you’re witnessing something that comes along once in a lifetime.” This promo’s pretty well balanced, giving Cerrone his fair share of highlights and accolades.

The second promo, which aired later in the night after the first championship match, was much more McGregor focused. I wouldn’t go so far as to say the UFC is trying to sow doubt in people’s minds about McGregor’s comeback, but they’re certainly highlighting all the reasons he may not be as sharp or focused as he was during his initial 2014-2016 run.

It starts with Khabib’s arm wrapped around Conor’s neck, the tap coming in slow motion.

”I know what I can do, I’ve done it before when I was doubted,” McGregor declares at the end. “And I’m eager to do it again. There’s so many stories, and mine is going to be the greatest of all.”

The first step back to the top goes down in just five weeks. After watching these promos, are you feeling the hype?
