Watch Till Hug Woodley’s Mum After UFC 228 Loss

A belt would have been nice, but a consolation hug from T-Wood’s mom isn’t bad either.

Darren Till had never lost in his professional MMA career before running into Tyron Woodley at UFC 228, but that didn’t stop him from handling the new experience with class. Following his second round submission loss to Woodley (watch the finish here), Till had a heartwarming exchange with Tyron’s mother backstage.

Till also had a respectful exchange with Woodley later on, with Tyron suggesting the loss was just a bump on the road to great success.

“I was 10-0 when I fought for my first world title,” Woodley said. “I wouldn’t be here without that loss. We all have to lose at some point, don’t we?”

Woodley is referring to his Strikeforce welterweight title shot in 2012, where he got brutally knocked out by Nate Marquardt, who hit “The Chosen One” with a combo right out of Mortal Kombat. The defeat put Woodley at 10-1 in his MMA career. Decision losses to Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald in the UFC followed, but so did a win over Robbie Lawler in 2016 that earned him the UFC 170 pound strap. Four title defenses in, and we’re starting to believe Woodley when he says he’s the greatest welterweight ever.

Will Darren Till be able to turn this loss around and use it to reach even greater heights? We’ll have to wait and see, but we very much doubt the UFC is done pushing him as one of their future stars, especially when they travel to the UK.
