Just days ahead of the UFC 249 pay-per-view (PPV) fight card, which takes place this Sat. night (May 9, 2020) inside VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, the promotion has released the cold video opening for its Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje-led mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which also features the bantamweight championship showdown between Henry Cejudo and Dominick Cruz.
Narrated by Ron Pearlman, of course.
“I can’t wait to deliver some great fights for the fans,“ said UFC President Dana White. “I want to give a big thanks to Mayor Curry, VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena and Florida State Boxing Commission Executive Director Patrick Cunningham for getting this thing done and giving us a venue to put on these incredible cards, as well our media partners including ESPN and ESPN+, for bringing it to fans. My team is ready to go and the fighters are excited to get back in there with these back-to-back events.”
UFC 249 is the first of three shows within the next two weeks. Following the May 9 extravaganza, the promotion will return on Weds., May 13 for “Smith vs. Teixeira,” then again on Sat., May 16, with “Overeem vs. Harris.” Remember, the coronavirus pandemic has made this a very fluid situation, so don’t be surprised to see a couple of last-minute changes in the days ahead.
