Earning the “Fight of the Night” honor were lightweights Donald Cerrone and opponent Jamie Varner. Cerrone earned a unanimous decision in his rematch with Varner who had won the first fight. There was a lot of bad blood leading up to the fight, it showed throughout the three rounds and even after the third round bell when both men shoved the other.
The “Knockout of the Night” was awarded to George Roop who KO’d the “Korean Zombie” in the second round. Roop landed a headkick to Chan Sung Jung knocking his opponent out before he fell to the mat. It was noted that during the post-fight press conference that Jung had been taken to hospital for observation.
Former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres bounced back from two straight losses by submitting opponent Charlie Valencia with a rear-naked-choke in the second to earn the “Submission of the Night” honor. Torres had changed his training camp to Montreal and the Tristar Gym for the fight. Torres noted that before his losses he had organized his training for fights and wanted to change things for Valencia.
