GLENDALE, Ariz. – Leave it up to a guy named “Showtime” to deliver a highlight on cue.

In the fifth and final round of the final bout in WEC history, Anthony
Pettis pulled off a move that will forever live in
the minds of those who saw it – launching himself off the cage to
deliver a flying kick to the jaw of opponent Ben Henderson.

The move flattened “Smooth” and sealed a decision result in the main
event of Thursday’s WEC 53 event. But while Pettis has since been
lavished with praise, the new WEC lightweight champ credits his opponent
for forcing the creative maneuver.
