Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman returns for a 185-pound showdown opposite longtime division veteran Eryk Anders as part of the upcoming UFC 309 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., Nov. 16, 2024 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Iridium Sports Agency revealed the matchup earlier today on Twitter.
Weidman (16-7) returned to the win column with a technical decision victory over Bruno Silva at UFC Atlantic City back in March; however, the bout was not without its share of controversy thanks to a double eye poke that brought a premature halt to the action.
Anders (16-8, 1 NC) is just a couple of months removed from his unanimous decision win over Jamie Pickett at UFC Vegas 87 in Las Vegas. “Ya Boi” is three years younger than his “All American” foe but already has 17 fights under the UFC banner, just two less than Weidman.
Neither fighter is currently ranked in the middleweight Top 15.
The UFC 309 fight card is expected to feature the (overdue) heavyweight headliner between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, though nothing is official at this time. Their five-round title bout will mark the final UFC fight for Miocic, who turns 42 before the end of the month.
