The UFC is ready for a return to the Sunshine State.
UFC on FOX 11 will be held on April 19 at the Amway Center in Orlando. The UFC tweeted the news on Monday.
In addition, two bouts of note have been announced: A heavyweight contender’s fight between Fabricio Werdum and Travis Browne; and a women’s bantamweight battle betwee Miesha Tate and Liz Carmouche.
While it’s safe to assume both fights will be on the main card, the tweet indicated that the evening’s main event is still to be determined.
Werdum (17-5-1) vs. Browne (16-1-1) is likely a No. 1 contenders bout for the next in line to injured heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. Werdum has won three in a row and six of his last seven fights, most recently a submission of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in June. Browne, meanwhile, has won three in a row, all via first-round knockout. He polished off Josh Barnett in just over a minute at UFC 168.
Tate (13-5) vs. Carmouche (9-4) is a battle of popular fighters who both need a win in order to keep up in the title race. Tate is coming off a loss to champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 168 via third-round armbar. It was her third loss in her past four fights. Carmouche (9-4) lost a decision to Alexis Davis in November, which dropped her to 1-2 in the UFC.
Tate vs. Carmouche was originally scheduled for a UFC on FOX event in July in Seattle, but Tate dropped out when she was selected as TUF coach for the 18th season.
