SAN DIEGO – One week prior, Keith Jardine had made a commitment to drop from light heavyweight to middleweight for perhaps his last run at a major title.

Then, a week ago, he hit a detour. Former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi was without an opponent at “Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley” after Mike Kyle bowed out with a broken hand.

“I was looking at MMAjunkie.com, and I saw that the fight dropped out, and I commented to myself, ‘Huh, I wonder why they haven’t called me yet,'” Jardine said.
