2020 is quickly approaching its end and now it’s time to look back at the year that was inside the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Octagon. We’ve already taken a look at the nominees for knockout of the year (see them here), so now let’s take a look at the nominees for submission of the year.

Check them out:

Mackenzie Dern submits Hannah Cifers via kneebar.

Ariane Lipski submits Luana Carolina vs kneebar at UFC Fight Island 2

Khabib Nurmagomedov submits Justin Gaethje via triangle choke at UFC 254.

Jimmy Flick submits Cody Durden via flying triangle choke at UFC Vegas 17.

There you have it, the best submissions inside the Octagon in 2020. But was there any that you feel were snubbed? If you agree with the list, which is your favorite?

We can expect a few nominees to possibly pop up early for 2021 as the promotion already has its first three events lined up in the span of one week, which are set to go down on “Fight Island,” located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates starting on Jan. 16, 2021.
