The UFC president claims that we will be seeing Anderson Silva in the Octagon for the last time in October.
Longtime former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is 45 years old nowadays, and he’s still choosing to fight. The legend apparently has two fights left on his current contract, and is set to headline a card against Uriah Hall on October 31st.
But according to UFC president Dana White, that night will be the last time you see him compete in the Octagon.
Speaking to the media following yesterday’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, White was asked about Silva’s status. And he confirmed Silva’s retirement coming out of the Hall fight, win or lose:
“Yes, it will be his last fight,” White said. “Yeah, it’s his last fight.”
Silva (34-10, 1 NC, 17-6, 1 NC UFC) hasn’t been super successful the last few years, but has still fought a very high level of competition. After starting his UFC career with an incredible 16 straight wins and ten successful middleweight title defenses, The Spider has a lone victory over Derek Brunson in his last eight outings since 2013. His last bout was a TKO loss to Jared Cannonier in May of 2019.
