Aside from running the world’s best mixed martial arts (MMA) organization and trying to bring Power Slap into sports legitimacy, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president, Dana White, has another passion — no not this.
The outspoken fight promoter also owns a 1,400 pound beast of a bull named “Twisted Steel,” who was in action last weekend inside Madison Square Garden in New York City while on the Professional Bull Riding (PBR) circuit. Former UFC contender Donald Cerrone was also on hand in the “Big Apple” and took his opportunity to call out Dana’s bull to a one-on-one showdown
After initially calling Cerrone “crazy,” White took up the MMA legend on his challenge and announced that “Cowboy” would be attempt to ride “Twisted Steel” for eight seconds on May 18, 2024 in Dallas, Texas at the PBR finals. White has agreed to donate $50,000 to Cerrone’s charity of his choice just for taking the challenge. But if Cerrone somehow manages to last the full eight seconds — which is far from a walk in the park — White stated he’d give “Cowboy” a cool $100k.
While Cerrone is no stranger to the western cowboy life and pushing the limits in extreme sports, professional bull riding is an entirely different beast. Furthermore, “Twisted Steel” managed to buck off a pro PBR athlete in NYC in just under three seconds.
Nevertheless, PBR is getting a whole new audience thanks to Dana White and Co., which is an obvious great partnership seeing as how Endeavor — owner of UFC — also owns the bull riding company.
The question is, will you be watching?
