Dana White continues to say that Cris Cyborg isn’t interested in a second fight with Amanda Nunes.
Despite her saying otherwise, UFC president Dana White continues to state that Cris Cyborg doesn’t want another Amanda Nunes fight. Cyborg, who fights Felicia Spencer at UFC 240 this weekend, is the obvious choice to fight for the 145-pound belt again if she wins in Edmonton. But White told TMZ that’s not likely to happen and he can’t get Cyborg to sign the contract:
“I think it’s pretty obvious why she wouldn’t want that fight. It’s a bad fight for her.”
”I think that [Cyborg] is at the point where she’s afraid to lose again. Losing again isn’t something she’s interested in.”
Nunes (18-4, 10-1 UFC) knocked Cyborg out in just 51 seconds at UFC 232 to take the women’s featherweight title from her. Cyborg (20-2, 1 NC, 5-1 UFC) only has one fight left on her contract, and has talked about possibly moving on from the UFC after the Spencer bout this weekend, which means White could just be saying these things as a bargaining ploy.
Cyborg and Spencer will serve as the co-main event at UFC 240. The card will be headlined by a UFC featherweight title matchup between champion Max Holloway and challenger Frankie Edgar.
