Both Dana White and Nate Diaz had some comments about Showtime’s simulcast of the Canelo vs. Plant fight with UFC 268.

While UFC 268 blew the roof off of Madison Square Garden in New York City, the MGM Garden in Las Vegas was as exuberant with the undisputed super middleweight title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant. The two fights ran simultaneously, with Canelo-Plant taking place as Rose Namajunas and Zhang Weili duked it out for the strawweight title at the co-headliner.

A similar situation happened in 2019, where Canelo Alvarez fought Sergey Kovalev the same night as the historic BMF title fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. But at the time, DAZN gave way and delayed the Canelo-Kovalev bout.

Since it didn’t happen this time around, a few people took notice. One of them was Nate Diaz, who posted this tweet.

UFC president Dana White also had his comments during the post-event presser.

“I think they’re insane to go the same night as us. It literally doesn’t make sense,” White told reporters.

“(Showtime President Stephen Espinoza is) an asshole, so that doesn’t surprise me. I think it was a bad idea. And they charged, like, $80 for it. The thing was $80.”

White did clarify that he feels the exact opposite about Alvarez, and even revealed a huge monetary win.

“But I like Canelo. I watched the fight. I bet on Canelo, that’s why I watched the fight. I bet $100,000 on him to win by knockout.”

Canelo defeated Plant via 11th round KO to become the first and only undisputed super middleweight champion. UFC 268 headliner Kamaru Usman also ended the night in victory as he notches his 15th straight win in the UFC.
