Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President, Dana White, has gone on record numerous times to claim that now more than ever the promotion will crack down on illegal streamers, vowing to catch them and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law, starting with UFC 257.
During a recent pre-fight presser (see it here), White once again reiterated his plans to catch people putting his product on the internet for free for countless other to enjoy, going as far as to say that he has targeted a specific streamer host who will go down if he decides to put up the upcoming “McGregor vs Poirier 2” event this Saturday night (Jan. 23) on “Fight Island.”
“We got one. We got him,” White said via MMA Junkie. “We’re watching this guy right now. All you have to do is turn it on Saturday, and we got you, f*cker. I can’t wait. Turn it on Saturday, streamers, and see what happens.”
He then went a little further into detail in an interview with BT Sport, going as far as to say that the unlucky fight fan is having his house and phone calls monitored.
“When I came out and said this (earlier this month), all these guys started taunting me. So I went through, and I picked. I said, ‘You. You’re the guy.’ And I told my people, ‘I want this guy.’ And guess what? We got him,” he added. “We’re watching his house, we’re listening to his phone conversations, and if he puts it up on Saturday, we got him.”
Per MMA Junkie’s report, White and Co. aren’t acting alone, revealing that the promotion has brought in the big guns by obtaining the assistance of federal authorities for the potential bust.
