“If he beats Robert Whittaker, he’s a very, very dangerous guy and a guy Jones needs to take serious.”
Despite the pronounced discrepancy in weight, there’s been much talk of a possible ‘superfight’ between reigning UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones and surging middleweight Israel Adesanya.
Both men share a mutual interest in the bout, and UFC president Dana White also seems keen on the matchup.
In fact, speaking to TMZ Sports in a recent interview, the longtime fight promoter said ‘Bones’ will need start taking ‘The Last Stylebender’ seriously should the interim middleweight champ beat Robert Whittaker to unify the titles at UFC 243.
“I do (have interest in that fight),” White said of Jones vs. Adesanya. “But Israel needs to focus on (Robert Whittaker). He’s fighting a bad dude. He needs to worry about that fight.

Adesanya, who is on a whopping seventeen-fight win streak (6-0 UFC 17-0 MMA), is expected to face official 185-pound champ Robert Whittaker in a title unification bout at UFC 243. The pay-per-view takes place later this year, October 6 at a currently undisclosed venue.
Jones, meanwhile, recently defended his light heavyweight title against Brazilian wild card Thiago Santos, edging out a split decision over ‘Marreta’ in the UFC 239 main event at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.
