UFC president Dana White is open to a heavyweight matchup between Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones.

According to Dana White, Jon Jones is expected to meet with UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell in the next few weeks to discuss his next fight. One option could be recently dethroned heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic.

“Well, a lot of people didn’t think (Miocic) was the heavyweight GOAT,” White said in a recent interview with Brett Okamoto (h/t BJPenn.com). “He is the heavyweight GOAT. He is, the guy is. He’s put in the work and done all the things you need to be the heavyweight GOAT. He is (the GOAT), that’s a fact. And I don’t know, we’ll see what’s next. I like that he’s fired up and wants to fight again. But yeah, I mean listen, we could do Jon and Stipe too.”

When speaking of Jones, White said there are ‘big fights’ on the horizon and is optimistic about his future in the UFC.

“Whether Jon has a manager or not, Jon is going to do what Jon wants to do.” White said (h/t MMA Fighting). “So it’s probably something that Jon Jones needs to work out. I know that him and Hunter have a good relationship. So I think those guys are going to get together soon and talk.

“Listen, you look as the last however many years and people ask me who I think the best ever is and I say Jon Jones. Jon Jones is a massive part of the history of this company. He’s one of the best ever. (No matter) where you stand, whether you think it is him, Anderson (Silva), Khabib (Nurmagomedov), GSP (Georges St-Pierre), wherever you stand on that, he’s one of the best of all-time. Obviously there is still some big fights that can be made with him, and we would love to do it. It’s not like we can’t get something done over here.”

Jones was initially expected to move up in weight to take on Francis Ngannou for the heavyweight title, but White is adamant that Derrick Lewis is next.

‘Bones’ vacated the light heavyweight title last year and hasn’t fought since his controversial win over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247. Miocic, meanwhile, is looking to bulk up 20 pounds in a bid to recapture the heavyweight belt.
