PFL champion Kayla Harrison responds to UFC president Dana White’s unsolicited piece of advice.

PFL lightweight champion Kayla Harrison is down to the last fight on her contract. That final bout will be her second $1 million championship bout on October 27, when she takes on Taylor Guardado.

As she heads into free agency, the undefeated Harrison will have many options in front of her, one of them being the UFC. But when asked about that possibility, company president Dana White had this to say.

“They pay her an obscene amount of money to fight over there. If I was her, I’d stay right where she is and keep picking off the people over (there),” White told TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter. “When you come here… Amanda Nunes is no joke. Shevchenko is no joke. Rose Namajunas is no… these are all the best women in the world. These are the best female fighters in the world.

“I don’t blame her, I would stay there and keep fighting the type of women she’s fighting there before I would come here and fight Amanda Nunes.”

This statement got to Harrison when a reporter asked her about it during a media scrum on Wednesday. This was her response.

“Thanks for the advice, Uncle Dana. Appreciate you. I’ve met the guy one time, and it was a super awkward, weird… that’s a story for another time,” Harrison replied.

“Again, my job is to focus on October 27th. I really don’t care about what other people have to say about me or my career or my choices or my options. I’m gonna do what’s best for me, and that’s it.

“That’s what he does. That’s his job is to… I’m gonna talk about how I’m the greatest of all time and he’s gonna talk about ‘Calm down, no you’re not.’ This is a game. This is a business. The difference is I really am gonna be the greatest of all time. So he’s gonna see.”

The 2021 PFL Championship takes place in Hollywood, Florida. Some sportsbooks have Harrison as the 30-to-1 favorite.
