See you in five months, I guess.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight power-puncher Francis Ngannou earned himself a rematch against reigning division kingpin Stipe Miocic by capturing four straight wins — two of which came against former champions — with all four victories ending by way of violent knockout.
Sample the carnage right here.
Unfortunately for the 15-3 “Predator,” who anointed himself the “uncrowned champ” on social media, the promotion doesn’t seem to be in any real hurry to get Miocic back inside the cage, so don’t expect to see these two duke it out until at least March.
“That fight won’t be ready until March,” promotion president Dana White told TMZ. “That’s the goal. We’ll see what happens.”
Miocic (20-3) competed three times since first defeating Ngannou at UFC 220 back in early 2018. Much to the chagrin of heavyweight contenders, all three fights have come against former 265-pound titleholder Daniel Cormier.
“The harder you work for something, the greater you’ll feel when you achieve it,” Ngannou wrote on Monday.
Let’s hope their hard-hitting rematch is worth the wait.
