A return to the UFC by former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar appears to be unlikely at this time.
It sounds like the return of Brock Lesnar may not be happening after all.
Several weeks ago, the news of Lesnar “pausing” negotiations with WWE and becoming a free agent got a lot of people excited about what that could possible mean for his next career move. A return to the UFC was one of the various options he had, and UFC President Dana White was interested in welcoming the former heavyweight champion back to the promotion.
This was contingent upon his overall seriousness in returning to the sport as well as opponent choice, with both former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and current heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at the top of the list for consideration.
Things have changed since then and White does not appear confident in Lesnar committing to a comeback. Speaking with TMZ Sports recently, White praised Lesnar for what he was able to accomplish while he competed, but was unsure he would like to resume his career at this time as he had not spoken to him about that likelihood.
“Not a word,” said White. “Listen. Sure, I’d love to hear how he’s doing and how his family is and things like that, but I think that’s going to be the extent of a conversation with him. The guy has a had a long, killer career. He actually came in and became a UFC heavyweight champion and the guy [has] made a lot of money.
“I just don’t see him coming back over here again at his age.”
At 43 years old, a return to competition already seemed highly unlikely for Lesnar. The last time he appeared inside of the Octagon was at UFC 200 in 2016, where he earned an unanimous decision victory over Mark Hunt. The win was overturned to a No Contest shortly after because Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance known as clomiphene.
Lesnar holds an overall record of 5-3-1 in MMA.
