Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President, Dana White, has a handshake agreement with undefeated boxing icon, Floyd Mayweather Jr., after talking shop with “Money” at a recent basketball game. Not surprisingly, the Las Vegas fight boss did not reveal what that agreement entails, but combat sports fans can expect something “fun” by fall of 2020.
“We have a deal,” White told Jim Rome (via MMA Junkie). “And if things play out the way Floyd and I think they will, I’ll probably sit down with Al Haymon in March and get a deal on paper. Let’s see how the next few months play out. We could be doing something fun, probably. I think if everything goes our way, Floyd and I would be doing something in October or November.”
White last worked with the aging pugilist under a co-promotion deal when “Money” boxed (and whooped) former UFC champion Conor McGregor in late 2017. Since then, plenty of other mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters (like this guy) have tried to land the “Money” fight to no avail, and Mayweather himself has even teased a possible cage fight.
I guess all we can do at this point is wait and see.
