Dana White says Dustin Poirier vs. Tony Ferguson will probably take place on the same card as Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje.
UFC 254 is shaping up to be one of the most stacked cards of the year, as Dana White hinted that Tony Ferguson vs. Dustin Poirier will feature as the co-main event.
The main event, of course, will see undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov take on newly-crowned interim lightweight titleholder Justin Gaethje in one of the most anticipated title bouts of 2020.
White, who spoke to the media earlier this week during the Contender Series post-event press conference, didn’t reveal any specifics surrounding the UFC 254 co-main event but said it will ‘probably’ feature Ferguson vs. Poirier.
Ferguson is coming off a fifth-round TKO loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249, while Poirier, 31, is back in the winners column after ‘The Diamond’ beat Dan Hooker in a Fight of the Night classic in the UFC on ESPN 12 main event earlier this year. Poirier and Ferguson are both ranked #2 and #3 in the UFC lightweight division respectively.
UFC 254: Khabib vs. Gaethje is scheduled to take place later this year, Oct. 24, at a to be determined location.
