When are we going to see Nate Diaz fight in the UFC again?

It’s a question even Nate Diaz has been asking on social media as the brash needle mover looks to close out the final bout on his UFC contract. The younger Diaz brother has been stumping for another fight since mid-August, mainly against the hard hitting Vicente Luque. But halfway through October Diaz declared “I ain’t got a contract. It must be something wrong wit Luque.”

Not so, according to Luque’s manager Ali Abdelaziz.

“Listen, I believe Nate Diaz has one fight left on his contract,” he said recently. “I think the only way UFC will agree to make this fight happen [is] if Nate re-signs with the UFC. But, I don’t know if this is good for Nate to re-sign with UFC.”

That certainly wouldn’t be too surprising given the UFC’s hardball style of negotiation, which is a big point of contention in the massive antitrust lawsuit winding its way through the legal system at the moment.

When asked about the situation with Diaz following UFC Vegas 41, Dana White clarified Nate’s contract status but didn’t expand too much on things.

“He’s got one more fight,” White said. “We’re working on a fight for him.”

Recently there’s been a lot of hype on social media for a potential showdown between Diaz and Tony Ferguson. It’s the kind of fight that makes you drool to even think about, but according to White it’s not on their radar.

“Tony [Ferguson] wasn’t one of the guys we were working on, but we’re working on a fight for him right now,” he said. “He’s got one fight left.”

Who knows what’s going on behind the scenes, but it certainly doesn’t look like Diaz will fight in December like he wanted.
