It looks like something that started on social media will actually come to fruition, as Dwayne Johnson will be strapping a belt around someone’s waist at UFC 244.
Earlier this week, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made it clear that he was very interested in attending UFC 244 to watch Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz mix it up in the headliner. Masvidal, who knows that The Rock has ties to Miami, made a bold request on Twitter – if he’s going to fight for a “BMF belt”, he wanted Johnson to wrap it around his waist when he won. It seemed like some good celebrity shilling at the time.
But now, apparently it’s a real thing. At least according to UFC president Dana White.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, White first revealed how much this BMF belt is actually worth in production costs, and the answer may surprise you:
“That’s a good question. I think the belt’s like 50 grand.”
Then he was asked about this silly Rock thing, and actually confirmed that Johnson will be there to present the belt to the winner:
“He’s gonna,” he said. “He’s taking my job. Listen, if The Rock wants to do it, The Rock gets what The Rock wants.”
UFC 244 goes down November 2nd in MSG, with Masvidal vs. Diaz headlining.
