According to Dana White, the UFC has decided not to renew Sage Northcutt’s contract.

Despite recently amassing a three-fight win streak and a professional mixed martial arts record of 11-2, 22-year-old prospect Sage Northcutt will not be returning to the UFC anytime soon.

That’s according to head president Dana White, who stated on a recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast that ‘Super’ Sage has not been re-signed by the promotion.

White is open to re-signing Northcutt after the karate-based fighter has done ‘some work’ in other organizations.

“We let Sage go,” White confirmed, per MMANYTT’s Jim Edwards. “Sage is young and Sage needs some work. Let him get some work in some other organizations and we will see where this kid ends up in a couple of years. Maybe we will pick him back up again.”

“His contract was up so we let him go.”

Northcutt joined the UFC in 2015 after being scouted on Dana White’s ‘Lookin’ For a Fight’ TV series and was hyped as one of the promotion’s brightest young prospects. The Team Alpha Male product went on to win six of his eight fights under the UFC banner, earning knockout wins over Francisco Trevino and Zak Ottow but dropping submission losses to Bryan Barberena and Mickey Gall. The Ottow fight occurred in July 2018 and was the last on his deal before entering free agency.

Northcutt’s most recent confirmed salary was $120,000 ($60,000 base pay/$60,000 win bonus) for his November 2017 win over Michel Quinones.

With Northcutt confirmed not to be signing a new UFC contract, expect serious offers from the likes of Bellator and ONE Championship.
