Paulie Malignaggi will step back into the ring for the first time in a long time to face Artem Lobov in the main event of this weekend (Sat., June 22, 2019) Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships (BKFC) 6 event in Tampa, Florida.
But one of the bigger questions floating around in the lead-up to the fight is whether or not Conor McGregor will be ringside to support his best friend and training partner when he takes on Paulie, a man he despises.
According to BKFC president, David Feldman, if he had to put his hard-earned money on it, “Notorious” will likely show up.
“They won’t give confirmation yet but if I’m a betting man, I’m betting he’s coming,” BKFC president David Feldman told MMAFighting. “They’re not going to give confirmation and if they are, they’re not going to tell us so we put it out there ‘hey Conor McGregor’s coming to the fight’ and then he’s mobbed.”
Of course, having confirmation that Conor will be in attendance could only boost ticket sales and intrigue for the event.
“So it’s not going to happen like that but from the conversations I’m having, if I was going to bet on it, he’ll be there but who knows.”
Conor’s beef with the former pro boxing champion is well-publicized, as the two men have gone at each other repeatedly over the year after a sparring session led to different tales as to what actually went down behind closed doors.
Despite “Notorious” and Co. having photographic evidence, Malignaggi says the photos don’t tell the entire tale. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Conor does indeed show up in support of “The Russian Hammer.”
As we’ve seen in the past, “Notorious” is full of surprises.
