The upcoming rematch between Strikeforce fighters Dan Henderson (25-8) and Renato “Babalu” Sobral (38-8) will earn the winner a shot at the Strikeforce light-heavyweight title.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed the news on Monday Night with MMAWeekly.com.
“Right now my feeling is Dan Henderson fights Babalu, the winner should be fighting Rafael Feijao. To me I think the winner will probably be granted a title shot…I think Rafael Feijao fighting the winner of (Henderson/Babalu) would make a lot of sense.”
Current title holder, Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante earned the championship in his last bout against Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal last August, after TKOing the former champ in the third round.
Henderson and Sobral will meet on December 4th at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Miss. in the main event of the upcoming Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II event.
