Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, finally realized he’s not getting an immediate rematch against newly-crowned division kingpin, Kamaru Usman, and is now setting his sights on the next best thing.
Or maybe he just wants some of those “Notorious” pay-per-view (PPV) points.
And while it’s easy to tease Woodley for going after a former featherweight simply because his title reign is over, they do have beef dating back to the UFC 205 weigh ins. Plus, McGregor has already competed twice at 170 pounds.
“Who makes sense for me to fight right now?” Woodley asked TMZ Sports. “I might as well fight Conor. Where you at Conor? Quit being a bitch. Let’s fight. I’ll fight him in Ireland. I’ll fight him in a fucking back alley of White Castle. Wherever y’all want to do it at.”
White Castle is the new Walmart.
McGregor recently revealed that he’s in negotiations for a July return, which would rule out a rematch against UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. “The Eagle” is currently sidelined until November after the UFC 229 post-fight fiasco.
Where Woodley ranks in terms of potential opponents is hard to say. We still have the Nate Diaz trilogy (more on that here) and McGregor remains the most popular fighter on the roster, allowing him to pick and choose his dance partner.
Until we know for sure, keep your eyes peeled at the local drive through.
