thescore fighting series june 10Press Release – TORONTO, May 12th, 2011 – Score Media Inc. (TSX: SCR) today announces that theScore Fighting Series has confirmed two more fights for the June 10th card at The Hershey Centre in Mississauga. Top-ranked Canadian bantamweight Adrian ‘The Bully’ Wooley will take on Bellator veteran Nick ‘Garfield’ Mamalis and Will ‘Leon’ Romero will bang it out with Tristan Johnson in a battle of strikers.

Wooley (7-1) was a decorated wrestler before beginning his MMA career and has posted dominating wins in his last two outings . Known primarily as a ground-and-pound specialist, Wooley showcased some well rounded skills in his victory over Cesar Gracie trained Randy Spence. With bantamweights like Dominick Cruz and Uriah Faber now getting more media attention, Wooley is looking to put his name on the division’s radar with a win over Mamalis. “Napoleon once said, ‘Glory is fleeting but obscurity is forever’,” says Wooley. “I’m excited to go to war with a fighter like Nick because he’ll bring out the best in me. It will be amazing to fight in front of my hometown crowd.”

Mamalis (16-7) is known for his extremely aggressive style and will look to pressure Wooley for all three rounds. Originally from Green River, Wyoming, Mamalis trains at the Grudge Training Center in Denver with UFC superstars Shane Carwin and Nate Marquardt. “I am very excited to be fighting for theScore Fighting Series,” said Mamalis. “This will be my first time fighting outside of the U.S. and I am very grateful for the opportunity. I look forward to putting on an exciting show for the fans!”

In what many are billing as a ‘Fight of the Night‘ candidate, fans better not blink when Will Romero steps into the cage with Tristan Johnson. Romero (5-2) is a heavy-hitting Muay Thai specialist and will pit his “science of the eight limbs” training against the slick boxing of Johnson (5-2). Both men are coming off losses after starting their careers undefeated and will be desperate for a victory.

“I’m here fighting for me, my team, my family and my friends,” says Romero. “By trade we’re both strikers but this guy is going to sleep.”

Syd Barnier takes on Denis Puric in a confirmed undercard bout. Barnier (2-3) has racked up an impressive 42-4-0 amateur Muay Thai record and was the 2008 World Muay Thai Champion. Puric (3-1) trains with one of Canada’s top Muay Thai coaches in Alin Halmagean and was recently listed as #10 on BloodyElbow.com’s list of the World’s Top Bantamweight Prospects.
