Former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields handily topped the payroll report for last Saturday’s WSOF 17 event, taking home $65,000 for his main event win over Brian Foster, according to figures released to MMAFighting.com by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Shields, a one-time UFC title contender who was unceremoniously cut from the promotion after seeing his four-fight unbeaten streak snapped at the hands of Hector Lombard in mid-2014, picked up his second straight first-round victory inside the WSOF cage, submitting welterweight veteran Foster with a rear-naked choke in under three minutes. Foster earned $15,000 in defeat.

WSOF 17 took place Jan. 17 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, NV.

Aside from Shields and Foster, no other fighters on the card hit the five-figure mark with their purses. Bantamweight prospect Bryson Hansen was the closest, as he earned $8,000 for his main card win over Rudy Morales.

A complete breakdown of WSOF 17’s salary figures can be seen below, although these figures do not represent a fighter’s total earnings, as sponsorship money is not publicly disclosed.
