World Series of Fighting (WSOF) is returning to Las Vegas on April 2 with two title fights in one night.
WSOF 30: “Branch vs. Starks” will take place at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The main event will see David Branch defend his middleweight title against Clifford Starks, while the co-main pits Jon Fitch against Joao Zeferino to crown a new welterweight champion.
David Branch has been on an exceptional roll. He’s unbeaten in seven straight fights dating back to his WSOF debut. Along the way he picked up the middleweight title at WSOF 10, then made more room in his trophy case for the light heavyweight title at WSOF 23.
Branch has vowed to defend both belts — and Clifford Starks wants to take one. He’s on a five fight winning streak of his own, undefeated since being released by UFC. Starks gave Bulgarian prospect Krasimir Mladenov his first loss at WSOF 23, earning this title shot in the process.
In the co-main event WSOF will crown a new welterweight king. The division’s title has been vacant since Rousimar Palhares was stripped after WSOF 22 for conduct unbecoming a professional fighter let alone a promotional champion.
The top contenders to replace him are Jon Fitch, winner of three out of his last four including a title eliminator at WSOF 24, and WSOF 25 tournament veteran Joao Zeferino.
The preliminary fights will be announced at a later date. The main card of “Branch vs. Starks” is below.
Middleweight: David Branch (c) (17-3) vs. Clifford Starks (13-2)
Welterweight: Jon Fitch (27-7-1, 1 NC) vs. Joao Zeferino (20-7)
Light Heavyweight: Vinny Magalhaes (13-7) vs. Jake Heun (9-4)
Welterweight: Abu Azaitar (11-1-1) vs. Danny Davis, Jr. (11-10-1)
