Could Daniel Cormier and/or Conor McGregor ever make the transition to pro wrestling?

It’s no secret that former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier is a huge pro wrestling fan. He has attended many events, brings up his fandom all the time, and even engaged in a pro wrestling-inspired pull-apart with Brock Lesnar in the Octagon. Unfortunately that never led to a fight and Lesnar is now retired from MMA. But they could do that “fight” in a different manner and a different environment – namely, the WWE.

With Cormier winding up his own MMA career and calling for one more bout before walking off into the sunset, a logical next destination for him could be the squared circle. And one of WWE’s most powerful people, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, wants to see that as well. He was quite enthusiastic about it when talking to TMZ Sports:

“I love Daniel. We’ve obviously talked a lot in the past. We’ve had conversations about him doing stuff with us in the past whether that’s in-ring or whether that’s commentary or doing different things. I think we’d love to do something with him if the time is right — obviously, respectful to UFC and to Dana and everything else. We’d love to chat with him and we have an open relationship as far as communication so I’m sure shortly we will when he figures out what he wants to do.”

It’s also not a surprise that there is interested in the most outlandish member of the UFC roster – The Notorious One himself, Conor McGregor. Levesque’s angle when describing Conor coming in was to compare his patented walk to the man he stole it from – WWE chairman Vince McMahon:

“I think that Conor McGregor versus Vince McMahon with that Billion Dollar Walk on the line?! I mean, I think that’s a match made in heaven!”

I think the former showing up in WWE is much more likely than the latter. And hopefully Cormier can do better than former teammate Cain Velasquez did with his brief foray into pro wrestling. But Conor in a WWE ring someday wouldn’t surprise me at all either.
