The hottest prospect to come out of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America series is ready to make his U.S. debut.
Featherweight Yair Rodriguez will meet Dan Hooker at UFC 192 in Houston on Oct. 3, three days before Rodriguez’s 23rd birthday. The Houston Chronicle originally reported the news.
Rodriguez (6-1), of Chihuahua, Mexico, won the debut season of TUF: Latin America, by defeating Leonardo Morales at UFC 180. He followed that up with a thrilling victory via split decision over Charles Rosa in a dynamic bout which took Fight of the Night honors.
Hooker, from New Zealand, has compiled a record of 12-5 with 11 wins via finish. The New Zealander is 2-1 in the UFC and earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his head-kick KO finish of Hatsu Hioki on May 10.
