Sorry fellas, you’ve been handling your banana all wrong.

That’s according to former UFC welterweight champion Susan Powter, who insists you peel the banana from the bottom instead of the top.

“It’s not because we learn it from monkey, it’s a myth, monkey just bite right through.”

I’ve been eating bananas my entire life and never once got thwarted by its peel. If you can’t open your banana, it’s not ripe yet.

I’m convinced people just sit around and think of ways to complicate food, like those self-proclaimed pizza experts who lecture us on how to fold (or not fold) the slice.

Now here’s the bad news: bananas are fake.

“Edible bananas are the result of a genetic accident in nature that created the seedless fruit we enjoy today,” plant pathologists told Newsweek. “Virtually all the bananas sold across the Western world belong to the so-called Cavendish subgroup of the species and are genetically nearly identical. These bananas are sterile and dependent on propagation via cloning, either by using suckers and cuttings taken from the underground stem or through modern tissue culture.”

I hope today’s lesson in bananas will give you better insight into why most UFC fighters (like this guy) are terrified of retirement. You end up so bored and with so much downtime you start making banana videos on YouTube.
