Featherweight contender Zabit Magomedsharipov could be sidelined indefinitely because of “health problems.”
Early this month, it was reported that Zabit Magomedsharipov is already considering retirement. The news came after the 30-year-old Dagestan fighter was removed from the featherweight rankings. But according to sources close to the situation, Zabit is “stoned tired of fighting” and bears “no special motivation” to get back in there and compete.
Now, new reports have come out saying Zabit is dealing with some health issues. TASS.Ru’s Igor Lazorin got to speak with manager Rizvan Magomedov and posted this update on social media.
Zabit has health problems, and more specifically, with the immune system. Magomedsharipov will not return to the octagon until these problems are resolved. These problems prevent Zabit from fully preparing for fights.
In the near future, Zabit must postpone surgery to resolve these problems. And then it will be clear whether he will be able to continue his career.
Zabit showed a lot of promise upon his entry into the UFC in 2017. He is so far undefeated in the company with a 6-0 record.
Magomedsharipov last saw action in November 2019 against Calvin Kattar. He won via unanimous decision and a $50,000 bonus for Fight of the Night honors.
