Calvin Kattar will now have to enter enemy territory to fight Zabit Magomedsharipov in November.
Fans will still be treated to Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Calvin Kattar — just three weeks later than originally expected.
The pivotal featherweight bout has been officially moved from UFC Boston to UFC Moscow, ESPN reported Monday night. UFC Moscow takes place Nov. 9, while UFC Boston is set for Oct. 18.
The removal of the Magomedsharipov vs. Kattar fight from the Boston card was first reported last week. Instead of finding a replacement to fight Kattar in Boston, it was expected that the fight against Magomedsharipov would simply be rescheduled for a later date.
It is unclear why Magomedovsharipov needed to delay the fight by three weeks.
Most recently, Magomedsharipov defeated Jeremy Stephens by unanimous decision at UFC 235. The Russian prospect is 5-0 in the UFC.
Kattar has also performed well in the Octagon, recording a current 4-1 record. He is coming off a first-round knockout of Ricardo Lamas. Kattar, a Massachusetts native, has won two in a row.
UFC Moscow is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight bout between former champion Junior dos Santos and Alexander Volkov.
