From 2010 to 2012, Makovsky was the Bellator bantamweight champion and only made his flyweight debut in 2013 after he departed the Viacom-owned organization.
Sampo, 29, earned his first win in the Octagon in his last bout when he choked out Ryan Benoit at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale in November. He is 11-2 in professional MMA.
UFC 170 takes place on February 22 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will air on pay-per-view and is headlined by a women’s bantamweight title fight between champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Sara McMann.
